George N. Longworth, Esq. has practiced law in Westchester County and Bronx County since 2002. In August 2007, he joined with Steven P. Grant, Esq. in establishing the firm of Grant & Longworth in Dobbs Ferry, New York. From 1992 until August 2007, when he retired, Mr. Longworth was Chief of Police of Dobbs Ferry. He was the youngest Police Chief in Westchester County history when he was appointed to lead the department following ten years of patrol, investigative, and supervisory assignments.

George N. Longworth’s areas of practice include criminal, immigration, and labor law: with a primary concentration in all aspects of personal injury law. His clients include the Westchester County Chiefs of Police Association as well as hundreds of first-responders throughout the tri-state area.

George N. Longworth’s expertise in all aspects of the law is affirmed by members of the Bar throughout Westchester County, including judges, prosecutors, and members of the defense bar. As a police officer in Westchester County Department of Public Safety, the NYPD, and later in Dobbs Ferry, Longworth was involved in Homicide, Drug, and Counter-Terrorism investigations and command. He has published professional law enforcement studies, as well as countywide public safety critical-incident plans. He also served as interim Village Administrator in Dobbs Ferry.

Longworth was admitted to the New York State Bar, to the Connecticut State Bar, and to the United States District Court of the Southern District of New York, in 2002.

Chief Longworth earned his Juris Doctorate at Pace University School of Law in White Plains, New York. He won his B.A. from Mercy College, where he serves as Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice, delivering instruction in the areas of Criminal Law and Forensic Science. Longworth is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, in Quantico, Virginia.

The State of New York chose Chief Longworth to be a member of its Law Enforcement Accreditation Program, in which he evaluated police agencies throughout New York as an Assessment Team Leader.

George N. Longworth was elected by his peers to be President of the Westchester County Chiefs of Police Association in 2000. He served on the Board of Directors of the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police prior to his retirement from active duty. He remains a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the FBI National Academy Association.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Association of the Bar of New York.
